William Nichols is one of my favorite contemporary (as in “current”) artists. Nichols’ work always seems to me to have a sense of crisp vibrancy, intricacy and a sense of wonder in nature, as well as being technically excellent (sort of like if Robert Frost painted instead of wrote poetry). Here, he shares his thoughts on some of the exhibitions he saw during a recent visit to the Art Institute of Chicago:
